Support Process Engineering efforts to drive continuous improvement throughout the casting process, performing data analysis and problem solving activities which lead to the resolution of manufacturing issues.

  • Assist with initial process development and continuous improvement efforts to reduce scrap, increase uptime, and decrease cycle time.
  • Assist with completion of root cause analysis for failures.
  • Coach team members in understanding casting processes, including potential interactions between parameters and appropriate target and tolerance settings.
  • Provide resources and training regarding general casting defects and potential causes.
  • Support responses to Customer by assisting in data collection regarding quality complaints and evaluation of tool or part engineering changes.
  • Update process information resulting from process changes (procedures, instructions, forms and training).
  • Must be proficient in the operations and advanced knowledge of equipment on casting floor.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, in accordance with scheduled work hours, and overtime (OT) as assigned. 
  • Meets all physical and environmental requirements.
  • Follows all IATF16949 and ISO 14001 guidelines.
  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Follows all Environmental Policy and Quality Policy guidelines.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to established Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).


Experience: Minimum two years automotive manufacturing experience in die casting or foundry, experience as a Casting Technician is preferred.

Communication: Ability to read, write and interpret routine reports, correspondence, and documents.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft office and manufacturing software.

Other: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Experience with Shainin, Six Sigma, and other formal problem solving methodologies.  Has demonstrated past success in the use of Lean Manufacturing Techniques.  Willing to work on the manufacturing floor.  Willing to travel to customer facilities as needed.  Able to work on relatively short notice as needed.
