TITLE: Maintenance Technical Cleaner                    PLANT: Machining - Comac                                    

DEPARTMENT:  Maintenance                                  REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager                     

FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt                         PAY GRADE: 14

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide support to the production process through the pm of coolant systems and machine cleaning, monitoring and filling of coolant tanks, hydraulic tanks and way lube dispensers along with tank farm operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain appearance of the Department.
  • Remove chips from chip strainers, baskets in coolant tanks and washers as scheduled.

  • Monitor washer pressures, change filters as necessary or required.

  • Clean coolant tanks and washers as necessary or required.

  • Monitor area around machines for fluid leaks, report leaks to supervisor, and clean up leaks.

  • Monitor scheduled machines on weekends, maintain check sheets and report issues to managers.

  • Clean equipment after each use.

  • Clean sump pump daily.

  • Assure segregation of oily wastes and coolant.

  • Follow assigned routes on keeping coolant tanks and washer tank levels full and at proper concentrations, including hydraulic oil and way lube.

  • Train with vendor on testing and adding to coolant to maintain specified concentrations.

  • Calibrate equipment: Refractometers, TDS, and pH meter.

  • Prepare daily paperwork on coolant and wash tank concentration, and pH data sheet.

  • Track all raw coolant usage on coolant sheet.

  • Monitor bacteria levels in machines (smell and sight), adjust the chemicals as required.

  • Keep coolant recycling totes clean and ready to use.  

  • Monitor and operate coolant-recycling farm, including the centrifuge, etc.

  • Add hydraulic oil to keep tanks at proper level. Report high usage to Maintenance Manager.

  • Add way lube to lubricators as needed during operation.

  • Monitor the usage of hydraulic oil and way lube; notify Maintenance Manager of excess usage.

  • Monitor area around machines for fluid leaks. Report leaks to Maintenance Planner.

  • Complete all other duties as assigned during scheduled shift.

  • Able to work weekends and overtime as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Follows all Environmental Policy and Quality Policy guidelines.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to established Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  

Certifications: Willingness to obtain a Gibbs issued Fork Truck License.

Experience:

Communication: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. 

Other: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
