POSITION SUMMARY

 

Requires basic understanding of computer logic and one programming language. Assists in fact finding to develop and/or modify information systems of various types. Assists with development of program specifications.  Designs, codes, tests and debugs programs.  Administers web and database servers.  Prepares documentation for several programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults with supervisor, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.
  • Designs or writes program specifications based on consultations with supervisor, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users.
  • Write and maintain maintenance programming as required to facilitate changes to system designs or end user specifications.
  • Develops and maintains complete documentation of programming, system layouts and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of all supported systems software applications and system hardware architecture.
  • Independently works with customers to analyze and resolve software and hardware support issues.
  • Revises programs for corrections, enhancements or system environment changes.
  • Reviews user and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with program operations.
  • Provides technical assistance to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs.
  • Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support program.
  • Assists in the daily operations of the computer systems (backup tapes, assistance to end users, data transfers, etc.).
  • Assists as needed in the daily operations of the network, associated application servers, and peripheral devices.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to be on call 24/7.
  • Follows all IATF16949 and ISO 14001 guidelines.
  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Follows all Environmental Policy and Quality Policy guidelines.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to established Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree is required, Associate’s degree or higher is preferred, preferrably in Computer science or related field.

Certifications:  N/A

Experience: Not required, prefer two years or more related experience in IBM Cognos, IBM TM1 and Salesforce.

Communication: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations including writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math: Ability to do basic math calculations including percentages and apply concepts of algebra.

Computer Skills: Python, SQL, PHP and Proficient use of Microsoft Office; Net, C#.

Other: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
