POSITION SUMMARY

 

Maintain and repair production equipment while supporting all departments to provide quality die-castings for customers.  Safely perform all tasks required to meet safety and production goals while maintaining a 7S system, participating in continuous Improvement and supporting team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team members responsible for personal development and progression of skill levels through Level 4 of their home department. Level 5 candidates will be selected by management.  Team members required to become proficient (Level 3) at minimum in two other departments.

Level 5 – Team Leader/Subject Matter Expert/Trainer

  • Supervisor in training.
  • Subject Matter Expert in all aspects.
  • Model of Gibbs ideal Team Member.
  • Lead continuous improvement teams and activities.
  • Train and monitor training activities.
  • Lead production activities required to meet production goals.

Level 4 – Self Directed

  • Level 5 candidate.
  • Performs job independently (Operator preventative maintenance, production processes, setups, minor repair, cleaning, production trouble shooting, resolve quality issues).
  • Complete all previous internal level and external training requirements.
  • Maintenance area organization and replenishment.
  • Exhibits Gibbs team member values.
  • Train or monitor training activities.
  • Train and monitor operator PMs.

Level 3 - Proficient

  • Level 4 candidate.
  • Operate equipment independently.
  • Work independently with schedule.
  • Actively pursue training towards Level 4 completion within one year of reaching Level 3.
  • Train and coach production operators regarding equipment maintenance and operator PMs.
  • All level 2 training complete.
  • Train maintenance team members as requested.

Level 2Functional

  • Level 3 candidate.
  • Capable of operating casting and trim press as required.
  • Training – Equipment electrical systems.
  • Training – Preventative and predictive maintenance tools.  Equipment, data, files, manuals, and stocked replacement parts.
  • Training – Operate machine shop equipment as required.
  • Training – Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Training – Install facility equipment and machinery.
  • Training – Complete daily maintenance work orders and repair logs.

Level 1 – Entry

  • Level 2 candidate.
  • Actively pursue training towards Level 2 completion within six months of reaching Level 1.
  • Participates or conducts training that Lead or Supervisor requests.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
  • Follow all aspects of Safety as described in Gibbs Safety Roles and Expectations.
  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to established Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  

Certifications:  Industrial Maintenance Certification preferred or willing to complete. Willingness to obtain Fork Truck certification or tugger training.

Experience: Manufacturing experience preferred, particularly experience in an automotive supplier, hot and changing environment and/or with casting, melt or metal forming.  Preferred but not required maintenance background and technical training in maintenance or willingness to attain this status.

Communication: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.  Function as part of a team.

Math: Ability to perform basic math, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication in whole numbers, or complete training required for math and math application.

Computer Skills: Should have basic computer and Internet knowledge or be willing to complete training as needed.

Other:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to work with a cross functional team to find solutions to production issues.  Willing to constantly learn and apply knowledge learned to meet production and improve efficiency
