Job Description

The General Manager supports GKS’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, Core Values, H3 Lean Guiding Principles and other GKS policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, LEAN processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for all people.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full P&L responsibility of the division.
  • An agent of change who embraces new challenges, but also exhibits deep respect for organizational history and culture.
  • An ability to successfully inspire and work collaboratively with a team to lead organizational change.
  • Participate in developing and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all divisional department activities to achieve strategic initiatives and KPI’s.
  • Identify/realize process improvement and synergy opportunities to reduce cost and improve quality. 
  • Deploy all company operational initiatives, staffing requirements, team building strategies and initiatives, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Revise in accordance with results and adjustments as appropriate
  • Participate with cross-functional team in the review, justification, acquisition, installation and development of progressive system improvements, technology advancements and equipment/facility expansions and/or acquisitions.
  • Create and develop positive relationships with counterparts, customer representatives, supplier representatives, team members, leaders in the local community and others.
  • Coach, guide and direct the activities of work within the division. Periodically assesses organizational structure and reporting lines and makes adjustments as necessitated by business needs and economy-influenced fluctuations in employment.

Position requires overnight travel, including travel to other GKS locations and customer facilities.
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or higher education (Master’s degree preferred),  in engineering, business or product management and 10 years’ or more of experience in metal finishing or similar industry, sales, project management, field and/or manufacturing management experience, or the equivalent in training, education and experience.

  3. Must have strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized.
  6. Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
  7. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  8. Proficiency in MS – Office Suite
  9. Proficiency in ERP systems, general knowledge of scheduling systems. 
  10. Results driven, able to focus on organizational growth and financial performance
